Aki is a vice president at Evolution Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm, specializing in strategic investments in, and collaborations with startups, for Japanese corporations. He is a bilingual investor, fundraiser, mentor/coach, and business development executive with deep experience in sourcing, developing, negotiating, and closing major investment, technology, and innovation deals in Japan and other parts of Asia Pacific, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to Evolution, Aki was Director of Business Development for Asia Pacific at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC, a Xerox Company) for 11 years, managing relationships with companies such as Sony, Panasonic, JR East, Nomura Research Institute, Hitachi, Fujitsu, Omron, VicTrack, and many others.
Before PARC, Aki was a Partner with the Venture Capital Investment Division of ngi group, inc. (formerly Netage, Inc.) in Japan, where he led investments in, and served on the boards of, Internet-related startups in both the U.S. and Japan. Before ngi group, he served as the COO of Tilefile, KK, a Netage-funded Internet startup in Japan.
